In couple counselling - marriage counselling, relationship counselling or pre-marriage counselling, the counsellor aims to give you both equal time and attention. This will help you each to get your side of the story across, without interruptions or rows.
Marriage counselling or relationship counselling can be very helpful even if your partner doesn't want to go. The counsellor will be able to help you without judging either one of you and remaining aware of 'the empty seat'.
Relationship coaching is a life coaching specialization that helps people find greater fulfilment in their personal relationships. A relationship coach can help you set relationship goals, understand your current partnership, thrive inside your marriage, grieve a lost loved-one, or take your long-term romance to the next level.
Relationship coaches also work with people who are not yet in a relationship. They will work with singles who have a history of troubled relationships, who have difficulty knowing what they want in a relationship, or just want to stay on track with their plan to find a deeper connection with someone.
You can come on your own and make significant changes within yourself which will benefit your relationship. Even though your partner will not come we can work on the part you play in the patterns and dynamics of your relationship. Doing this will generally have positive effect on how you function as a couple.
Scheduling a counselling session involves a reserved amount of time especially for you, a minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for rescheduling or cancelling an appointment. Unless we reach a different agreement, the full fee will be charged for sessions missed without notification.
I am happy to reschedule your appointment when you provide the 24 hours’ notice.
For the best outcome for Relationship, coaching and counselling are possible when appointments are scheduled and attended regularly.
Every person is different, however, current research suggests that it can take at least 3-4 months of relationship counselling/coaching to establish long lasting changes.
Together we decide how often you will attend, based on your needs and schedule, which may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. In my experience, clients that have the most positive outcome from relationship counselling usually attend weekly for the first five weeks.
Yes! Over 30 years of research demonstrates that online therapy is as effective as face-to-face therapy for most issues.
Many of our clients tell us that they prefer online therapy to in-person therapy as they enjoy the convenience of doing a therapy session from any location and still get the benefits of a regular in-person therapy session.
No. Technology and video conferencing have come so far that it now typically feels the same as sitting in the room with your therapist. The video streaming and picture quality are generally so high that there is no lag in the interaction with your therapist.
Yes! I use the licenced Zoom membership, which is a safe and secure video conferencing platform that encrypts the video between the users. Your counselling session is 100% confidential and cannot be seen or accessed by anyone other than the therapist and the clients in the meeting.
To join online therapy, you only need a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or Smartphone with a good internet/ WIFI connection. If you can watch YouTube videos or stream Netflix on your device without an issue, you will have no problem engaging in online therapy.
